WOODCOCK SHOOTING REPORT - SEASON 2006/2007

Overall bags were slightly down for 2006/07 season mainly due to bad weather consisting of gales and heavy rain with flooding at times. We had a good migration of birds at the end of October and early November, but they were moved on with the inclement weather conditions.

Bag Totals month on month
November 2006: 28 gun days with 55 Woodcock in the Bag : Average 1.96 per gun per day
December 2006: 29 Gun days with 89 Woodcock in the Bag : Average 3.07 per gun per day
January 2007: 35 Gun days with 138 Woodcock in the Bag : Average 3.94 per gun per day

Grand total of 92 Gun days with 282 Woodcock Shot : Average of 3.06 per gun per day

We found that our Southern venues produced better numbers that the Northern venues - that's woodcock for you. However the weather conditions played a large part.
