EAST HAUGH HOUSE HOTEL is situated in the heart of the Central Highlands within easy driving distance of Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is a beautiful 17th century turreted stone house, built as part of the Atholl Estate and set in 2 acres of gardens close to the River Tummel. The house has been sympathetically converted to a small, personally run hotel which specialises in providing top quality fishing and fieldsports for guests. East Haugh won the Scottish Country Sports Hotel award in 2005 and was runner-up in 2006, and has a 4-star rating from the Scottish Tourst Board. Neil and Lesley McGown who run East Haugh are both keen fishers and are therefore ideal hosts for angling parties. The local area also offers golf courses, castles, distilleries, and excellent hill-walking and pony-trekking in Atholl. Tickets can be arranged for the well-known Pitlochry Festival Theatre on the banks of the Tummel.

ACCOMMODATION
East Haugh has 13 individually designed bedrooms, three with 4-posters, one of which has its own fireplace. There are a further 5 ensuite rooms in the 'Bothy' beside the hotel. Family rooms are available. The hotel was extensively redesigned and refurbished in 2003, and all rooms are non-smoking and furnished to a high standard, with private bathroom, TV, CD player, tea & coffee tray and direct dial telephone. The Two Sisters Restaurant, which has received a coveted 'Macallan Taste of Scotland' food award, specialises in fresh local produce, including home-grown vegetables, game in season such as grouse, pheasant and venison, and seafood from the Western Isles. There is a bistro bar with open fire, which serves extensive lunch and dinner menus 7 days a week all year round. The hotel has ample car parking, and all the facilities required by anglers.

SALMON FISHING AT EAST HAUGH
Salmon fishing in Perthshire is dominated by the River Tay and its tributaries - of which the Tummel is the biggest. The Tay's reputation as a superb salmon river is well deserved and many large fish are taken each year. East Haugh is situated on the banks of the Tummel, and has access to many beats on both rivers, with excellent fly and spinning water. The Tummel fishes best earlier in the season - from early spring to late July when the grilse arrive - while the Tay, because of its size, which allows fish to run in almost all conditions - is an 'all-year' river. For this reason guests at East Haugh are almost invariably able to fish for salmon, regardless of rainfall. Fishing is also available on the smaller River Garry, a tributary of the Tummel.

River Tay Beats and Prices: Available beats include Upper and Lower Kinnaird, Murthly, Newtyle, Stenton, Dalguise, Upper Dunkeld, and Edradynate, with prices starting at 25 UK Pounds per rod per day (Jan,Feb, March) on some beats. Upper Kinnaird has 2 miles double bank fishing in deep slow moving water, the best pools being the Newton and the Rock Pool. Fly, spinning & worm only. Good harling (the Tay method of fishing a lure from a boat) at the right water height. There is a short stretch of the Tummel above the junction suitable for the fly. Prices from 35-75 UKP per rod per day. A boat and ghillie, which can be shared, costs 90 UKP per day. Lower Kinnaird has 1.5 miles double bank Tay water at the junction with the Tummel. It is one of the most beautiful and productive upper Tay beats, with excellent fly water. Prices from 35-195 UKP (peak months July to October).

River Tummel Beats & Prices: West Haugh & Dunfallandy Beat: 1.5miles double bank, 6 rods, 6 named pools - from 25-60 UKP per rod per day (peak months April/May). East Haugh Beat: 1 mile double bank, 4 rods, from 45 -65 UKP. The Moulinearn Beat on the Lower Tummel (1.5 miles, double bank, 5 rods, with many named pools) is also available. All Tummel beats offer beautiful fly and spinning water and bookings need to be made well in advance. Contact East Haugh or check the website for availability. Experienced Bank Ghillies can be arranged for 75 UKP per day.
Tummel fishing methods are fly and spinning only.

Note:
Fishing must be paid in advance and is subject to VAT at 17.5%.
